Sara Ouhaddou explores the links between craftsmanship, language and social structures. She regularly collaborates with craftspeople to produce works that revive traditional techniques whilst subverting them.
Through textiles, ceramics and invented writing systems, she questions cultural norms and the mechanisms of transmission. Her pieces often play on the ambiguity between legible signs and abstract forms. Her practice, which is both conceptual and rooted in the physical act of making, is now gaining increasing recognition on the contemporary art scene.
