Chloé Bensahel is a Franco-American artist who combines performance, weaving, and multimedia to shed light on the relationship between language and identity. Inspired by her own intergenerational history of migration, her work draws on material traditions, particularly that of French tapestry, to make room for an embodied or encoded language. In this way, Chloé Bensahel weaves, spins, tears, or strips materials from one state to another, creating compositions that capture traces of the material’s history.
