Combining paintings, drawings, films, photographs and literary documents, the exhibition presents the works of the movement's emblematic artists, as well as those of female Surrealists. The exhibition is both chronological and thematic, with 14 chapters evoking the literary figures who inspired the movement and the poetic principles that structured its imagination. At the heart of the exhibition is a central ‘drum’ housing the original manuscript of the Manifesto, on exceptional loan from the Bibliothèque nationale de France. A multimedia projection accompanies the discovery of this unique document, shedding light on its genesis and meaning.
