An artistic research project led by photography historian Estelle Blaschke and photographer Armin Linke, "Capital Image. New technologies and the economics of photography" examines photography from a more topical angle than ever: as an information technology, capable of transforming the visible world into a usable visual archive. Going beyond the observation that today, new technologies are taking over and algorithms are manufacturing the gaze, the exhibition tackles essential questions that are rarely asked: What technologies and infrastructures are needed to manage and exploit ever-increasing quantities of images? How can the economic value of images be conceived, measured and discussed?
