Image Capital

Artist Armin Linke and photographic historian Estelle Blaschke conduct fascinating research into the major changes taking place in image agencies and banks, and the role of photography as "image capital". Today's photographic paradises have become online platforms and websites, and access to them is regulated by search machines and their algorithms. Yet this new virtual "utopia" is also a huge, real and growing market: beyond its aesthetic dimension, photography increasingly has an economic significance. For this reason, it is transforming itself into a hybrid being, both image and metadata.
