This is the first monographic presentation devoted to the Indian artist Sayed Haider Raza (1922-2016), a member of the Progressive Artists Group founded in Mumbai in 1947, who lived in France from 1950 to 2010. Through a careful selection of paintings from the 1950s to the 1990s, this exhibition focuses on his formative years in India and within the Progressive Artists Group. It also highlights the formal and conceptual developments of a modern oeuvre that is exemplary of the transcultural dynamics and issues at stake in 20th-century art.
