In 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, Giuseppe Penone donated 350 of his drawings to the Centre Pompidou. Two years later, the museum dedicates an exhibition to the artist, bringing to light works, that, for the most part, have never been shown to the public.

The Dubuffet Foundation is undoubtedly one of the rare institutions in France whose founder is the artist himself. Its purpose is to acquire and preserve the original works that make up its collections, as well as plans, projects and models, notes and manuscripts, all archives and documents, goods and various objects of interest for the knowledge of Jean Dubuffet's thoughts as well as his artistic, literary and musical work.

Contemporary art is characterised by a mixture of styles, methods, materials and concepts. No single ideology completely sums up today's art, which is devoid of rules. We now live in a world of images and photography, so ubiquitous, is no longer experienced as a technique, but rather as an extension of our gaze. What can a contemporary artist who works with this medium do? It is from this questioning that the Parcours Saint-Germain and Photo Days have decided to join forces. The selected works suggest a kind of genetic mutation of photography, which frees itself from its nature to become a hybrid form, a mixture of the most varied modes of artistic expression. From 18 to 29 October 2022, this exhibition highlights artists who reinvent photography by imagining a new language for it, giving rise to totally unexpected results.
