The author of a protean work, by turns mysterious and literal, León Ferrari's (1920-2013) formal rigor equals his subversive power, constantly seeking to warn about the process by which art embellishes and trivializes violence - a mechanism he called "amiable cruelty" (bondadosa crueldad). In his practice, drawing and sculpture respond to and enrich each other. The techniques of montage and collage, the use of all types of materials allow him to denounce the violence of the Western liberal world in deliberately iconoclastic compositions.
