Presenting several cycles of paintings made from 1969 to 2021, the exhibition allows us to rediscover the work of the Italian painter Giorgio Griffa (born 1936 in Turin).
In parallel with his life-long activity as a lawyer, he produced, from the second half of the 1960s onwards, abstract works recognizable by their blank canvases, unprimed and unstretched, worked on the floor and then fixed to the wall with simple nails. Close to the Arte Povera and Pittura Analitica movements, the BMPT and Supports/Surfaces artists' groups, Griffa cultivates independence and his work a singularity that places him as one of the most important Italian painters of his generation.
