The exhibition retraces the great sequences of Farid Belkahia’s work, from Prague and the Expressionist period to his works in skin and the poetics of signs, including his time spent at the Casablanca School and his use of copper. Considered as one of the main founders of Moroccan and more broadly Arab artistic modernity, the artist and his evolution towards a new modernity are put into light in this immersive journey. The exhibition brings together nearly 140 works - paintings, drawings, sculptures, skins and brass - including an important piece, Hommage à Gaston Bachelard (1984), which joined the Centre Pompidou’s collection in 2013.
