Considered as one of the main founders of Moroccan and more broadly Arab artistic modernity, Farid Belkahia (1934-2014) is being honored with a retrospective at the Centre Pompidou. The exhibition retraces the great sequences of Farid Belkahia’s work, from his expressionist period in Prague to his use of highly traditional local craft materials. The retrospective brings together nearly 140 works - paintings, drawings, sculptures, skins and brass - including an important piece, Hommage à Gaston Bachelard (1984), which joined the Centre Pompidou’s collection in 2013.
