Arnauld Pierre is a contemporary art historian. He lectures at the Sorbonne University and is part of the research team of the André Chastel Center. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Cahiers du Musée national d’art moderne, and a member of the International Association of Art Critics. In addition, he was a guest academic member of the «Mission Recherche» committee in 2020. In this conference focused on the archaeology of generative art, he will start as a referenc point with the exhibition «Cybernetic Serendipity» in 1968 in London to notice the presence of a certain number of analogical devices generating vibratory tracings that he will relate to an instrument invented in the 19th century, the harmonograph.
