This monographic exhibition invites the viewer, for the first time, to examine the notion of “place” as a central theme in Jo Ratcliffe’s work. For the artist, the spaces she photographs are not merely geographical locations or terrains shaped by violence and history; they are also sites imbued with emotion and carriers of memory. Her images capture both historically significant sites and seemingly ordinary landscapes, where absence itself becomes charged with meaning.
