A major exhibition exploring the relationship between the work of Leonardo Cremonini (1925-2010) and Francis Bacon (1905-1992) and their artistic friendship, which began in Rome in the 1950s. The two artists, resolutely figurative at a time when abstract art was triumphing, forged a fruitful relationship that, particularly in the 1950s but also in the 1960s, nourished their respective works. The exhibition will contrast Cremonini's paintings with works by Bacon, while previously unpublished archival documents will reveal this little-known artistic friendship. The exhibition catalogue will feature an essay on the links between Cremonini and Bacon by Milan Garcin, a doctor of art history and Bacon specialist.
