The Amis invite you to meet Giulia Andreani and discover her world. Giulia Andreani (b. 1985) reuses personal memories and archival photographs through painting to address forgotten histories, often through a feminist lens. Reminiscent of the collage work of Max Ernst and Hannah Höch, the artist uses watercolor and acrylic to reproduce, modify and combine motifs from these photographs, generating new layers of meaning. Working primarily in Payne's Grey, a blue-gray hue that is both warm and cool, Andreani presents figurative works free from the artifice and power of painterly color.
