Born in Paris in 1940, Jean-Noël Herlin moved to New York in 1965, where he was active as a bookseller, archivist and expert in all forms of modern and contemporary art. Throughout his career, this "junk mail addict" has been a veritable papivore, considering printed matter to be "vehicles". His own way of doing things hybridizes the artisanal approach that marked the European history of the book and the artistic sensibilities that emerged in the 1960s.
