For the first time in France, the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson presents an exhibition devoted entirely to the American photographer Ruth Orkin (1921-1985). Orkin is internationally renowned for her photograph entitled, American Girl in Italy (1951), a now iconic image depicting a solo female traveller. As an adolescent, Orkin's created a series of works during a trip in which she crossed the United States from West to East and is now now recognized as a forerunner of photography.
