Contemporary of the first Pop works and their more or less distant fascination with consumer products and mass communication, there's nothing exotic about Gilles Aillaud's paintings. Gilles Aillaud has endeavored to "paint philosophically", giving the impression that he was depicting animals, but in reality it is our relationship with nature that imposes itself as his sole and true subject. His technical "humility" gives form to the dream of reconciliation, far removed from any project to master and possess the world. The questions that our era poses to our relationship with the living demonstrate the importance of this retrospective.
