Since the beginning of the year 2020, more than a dozen museum exhibitions around the world have made abstraction their subject. As diverse as they are, the common denominator of these exhibitions is to manifest the actuality of abstraction while testifying to the irreducibility of the contemporary, but also historical, forms of abstract art that they present to the great teleological narrative constructed by the American art historian Clement Greenberg, who has dominated the thinking of abstraction for decades.

Eric Minh Cuong Castaing was the third winner of the LE BAL / ADAGP PRIZE FOR YOUNG CREATION in 2021. The purpose of this prize is to support, for two years, the realization of a creative project that falls within the broad spectrum of the image-document, fixed and moving, questioning our human experience. At the crossroads of choreography and the process of care, Forme(s) de vie by Éric Minh Cuong Castaing stages bodies that have been prevented from doing so and offers them the means to reappropriate, for a time, the gestures of which they have been deprived.
